Overhaul of clarinet, oboe, English horn, and bassoon

It is recommended approximately once every five years, depending on the intensity of playing. The price depends on the condition of the instrument; prior consultation is always required.

What does the overhaul include?

  • disassembly of the instrument mechanics
  • displacement of clearance in the mechanics using jigs (special tools)
  • displacement of clearance of axes in the posts
  • removal of old pads and base material
  • for oboe and English horn, unscrewing the adjusting screws
  • preparation for galvanizing, sanding, polishing, repairing the surface of keys
  • galvanization (silvering, gilding, nickel plating, rhodium plating)
  • wood cleaning and impregnation
  • repair of surface cracks on tone holes and instrument body
  • new corks on pins
  • removal of deposits from the bottom of the tone holes
  • putting into operation the mechanics on axes
  • gluing new base material and pads to the mechanics
  • reassembly of the mechanics on the instrument body
  • for oboe and English horn, new adjusting screws - crucial for the overall final adjustment
  • final instrument adjustment, replay, polishing

  • surface treatment at the customer's request (silvering, varnish, gold lacquer)
  • putting into operation the mechanics on axes
  • gluing new base material and pads
  • reassembly of the mechanics on the instrument body
  • final instrument adjustment, replay, polishing
